Sleeping Beauty

I’m a bit of a late sleeper these days. Most of the time, I can go to bed at around 2 AM. Just like today, it’s already 1:45 AM and I am still awake. This has become my sleeping schedule for the past weeks.

Last Saturday, my husband told me to sleep early because we’ll be going to church the following day. Despite his reminder, I still slept at 2 AM. Hubby said “I don’t think you can wake up early tomorrow.” I answered him jokingly “Well, tomorrow I’m gonna be like Sleeping Beauty, I need to be kissed by a prince for me to wake up from a deep sleep.” My husband just smiled.

Sunday morning came, I woke up and looked at the watch… it was 7 AM. It was still early and I went back to sleep and never noticed that I had fallen back into a deep sleep. After awhile, I felt my husband tapping me at the back and asking me to get up. I heard him telling me the time, but still I can’t open my eyes. I just ignored him and continued sleeping. He continued tapping and tickling me just to make me awake, but I just told him I’m still very sleepy. To my surprise, my husband kissed me and told me “Hey, Sleeping Beauty wake up! I immediately opened my eyes and told him, “Oh, you really did what I told you last night. I was then laughing at him. Hubby just gave me a funny face. (LOL!)

White Rose

This white rose is from Lalaine. Thanks so much for this tag.

What does a white rose represent? White is a color symbolic of many positive things, such as marriage, purity, virtue, and innocence. White is linked to emotions of harmony and serenity. The breathtaking purity and simplistic beauty of a white rose can’t be beat. White roses signify deep, clear emotions. They are given without reservation or ambivalence. The red rose signifies lust or passion, but the white rose goes much deeper to suggest an infinite love that goes to the very core of one’s being. It carries an almost spiritual significance. White roses symbolize devotion, kindness, and deep friendship in love.

Now I'm passing on this shining, shimmering, splendid white rose to some of my lovely friends and now I'm tagging them as well… To Love from Love's Haven and Cookie from Cookie's Corner.

Protect Your Income...

About a year ago, my mom was diagnosed to have high blood pressure. She always complains about getting headache and sometimes dizzy. That is why we decided to consult a doctor. Her doctor advised her to confine herself in the hospital for at least 3 to 4 days because her blood pressure is too high and needs to be monitored. Mom was hesitant because she don’t want to be absent from her work and at the same time she don’t want to spend a lot of money in the hospital because she don’t have the resources. But we had no choice but to follow the doctor’s instructions because we know it’s for her own good. After the confinement in the hospital, it’s time to pay our bills. Paying the bills in the hospital was Mom’s greatest fear because her money might not be enough but thanks to her Insurance, we were not able to pay a single centavo in the hospital.

Getting an insurance is a practical way of protecting your income. Most of the time we do not set aside and save money for hospitalization or sickness. That is why mom is more cautious these days with regards to her health. Not only that, mom is saving some money for the rainy days. Meaning to say, she is preparing for the instance where she can no longer work because of sickness or injury. Mom must have a disability insurance for that matter. As I was surfing the net, I found this website which helps you to the have the most reasonable disability insurance. Not only that it offers a wide range of clients particularly professionals, including dentist's disability insurance, attorney's disability insurance and physicians disability insurance.
It is time to make the preparation now... time to protect your income.

Did you wash your hands?

I am very particular when it comes to hand washing. In school we always remind our students to wash their hands before they eat their snacks or after they went to the toilet. Even at home I usually remind my husband to wash his hands after he goes out of the toilet, coz you know men urinates differently with women (you know what I mean)… I always ask him “did you wash your hands?... and this makes him annoyed of my reminder. (lol!) He just answered me… “Of course…”

Today, I heard a motorcycle stopped at our front gate. I looked at the window and I saw it was the postman. I was expecting him to knock, but he just stepped out of the bike and walked a few steps to the corner and leaked. Here in the Philippines, a lot of men just pee anywhere and their best locations are on posts. After he is done with his business in the post, he knocked and called… there’s a mail for mom. At the back of my mind, I was asking the question, “Mr. Postman, did you wash your hands?... the answer to that question was obviously no.. But here he comes asking me to receive the letter. As I opened the gate, he was holding the mail and he was also holding a pen and a paper for me to sign. Eewww… I don’t want to hold the pen, but I had no choice. After receiving the mail, I hurriedly went inside the house and wash my hands… thoroughly. (lol!)

Mom turns 55!

Yesterday was my mother’s 55th birthday. I bought her cake and my little cousins sang happy birthday to her. It was indeed a happy birthday for her. One thing I like about my mom is that, she is such a strong person. She can easily handle all difficulties she may face. You can never see any expression of grief on her face when she has problems. She always smiles and makes other people laugh at their problems. Many people describe her as a funny person.

I am so thankful to God for a giving me a mother like her. I thank the Lord for all her sacrifices to us. Despite all the pain she experienced with my father, mom remained to be a happy and a strong person. It is my prayer that the Lord will reward her life with all the things that she desires.

A blessed birthday to you Mama! I Love you!

Cry Baby

When I was still a little girl my cousins doesn’t like to play with me because according to them, only a single touch of me would make me cry. This could put them to harm since my mom will ask them the reason why I cried, and if they can’t explain it clearly then they will be scolded (lol).

I do admit that I am an emotional person. I easily get so affected with how others feel. Whenever I see people crying, I can’t help myself but also cry. Whenever my friends shares about their problems I also cry with them. When someone shares about words of kindness and appreciation to me I gladly listen to it and most of the time got teary eyed.

Last night, hubby and I are watching TV. The show was all about a talent search wherein the contestant comes from a poor family. His family was with him during the contest and as the contestant begun to sing, his father cried. After he sang, he hugged his father and the judges were so touched not with his performance, but because of the love of his father for his child. His father was a crippled man. They were hugging and crying each other. I was really moved with that show. I wanted to suspend my emotions because hubby might tease me but I really can’t. What I did, I just keep silent and tears were now coming out from my eyes. After a few minutes of silence, I wonder why hubby is also silent. I took a glance of him and saw tears from his eyes too. I was so surprised to see him teary eyed and I asked him why he cried. He answered, “because you cried”. I was the one who teased him that night and we end up laughing. As I saw my hubby cried because of that TV show, I realized that I am not just the cry baby after all.

Every now and then we cry because we are in pain, at times we cry because we are happy. Sometimes we cry for so many reasons, and no matter what reason it may be it’s a good thing to know that crying helps us express what we truly feel. Remove those burdens inside your heart. Don’t be afraid to be a cry baby once in a while.

Fatherless...

My father left us when I was still 4 years old, my elder brother 5 years old and my younger brother 2 years old. I can still remember the time he left us. It was Christmas day of 1983. I was excited then because Father is at home but only to find out that he will not be celebrating Christmas with us. It wasn’t a sad Christmas for me because I thought he will just be back. But Father never came back until then. :(

Eight years after, I met my father unexpectedly at an event at my aunt’s house. My brothers and I approached our father with a happy heart. We kissed him, even though it feels like kissing a stranger, but we were grateful that day that we met him. He promised us to have a fun day and promised to fetch us home on Monday. We were so excited of that promise and we hold on to it. Monday came but Father never came that day. We didn’t even see his shadow at all. After that incident, we never heard any news about him. We didn’t even heard any explanation why he never came that day.

Two years after and I am already a second year high school student. While I was at home, absent from my class due to my asthma. There was someone knocking on the door. As I opened it, it was my father. My heart beats faster and faster and I couldn’t explain what I am feeling. There was a mixed emotion on whether I should be happy that he came and at the same time I felt sad and angry deep inside. At the back of my mind I was thinking what is he doing here? But still my face showed a warm welcome smile to my father. We talked that day but only about shallow matters. He looked at the pictures in our photo album and he told me I looked good on the pictures. He also saw the picture of my mom, and he said mom looks happy. But as I was looking at him that day, I felt pity on him. He looked so dirty and it seems he doesn’t have a bath at all. I invited him for lunch and as I looked at him eating, I got the notion that he never had eaten for days. After the lunch he bid his goodbye.

My father went back home that night. I was afraid that he will really stay in the house for good. He came back for the reason that he wanted to see my brothers and borrowed some shirt from them. Maybe father was facing a hard time that day. Both my brothers are angry with him. They let him borrowed a shirt but my cousins are the one who gave the shirt. We invited him for dinner but we never ate with him only my uncles. After his dinner with my uncles he left.

We were living a simple life after that incident with only our mom supporting us. My mom is both the father and the mother at home. She’s a father when it comes to disciplining us, and she’s a mother when it comes to loving us. After I graduated college, I heard from the Director of the school I’m working before that my father called the office and is asking for financial assistance from us because he was terribly sick with diabetes. The director told my father that we are not anymore connected to his office. He also informed my father that my brother is already working in a fast food chain. My father called my brother’s workplace and was able to contact my brother. He visited my brother at the fast food chain. My brother asked his superior to have a short break because father will be coming. My brother’s eyes were never detached from the entrance door waiting for my father to come in. While looking at every person entering, he saw an old man with a cane in one hand. He was making fun of that old man and told his co-workers “here comes my father…” to his surprise; the old man was really our father. He really can’t believe it! (This seems to be like in the movies, but this is really true.) He welcomed father and asked him to eat what he likes. Father was asking for his forgiveness that day, and asked him to give him some financial assistance. My brother gladly helped my father. The money he gave was not big enough but I appreciated my brother’s gesture of forgiving our father.

We really don’t have that big grudge to our father. Mom was always there to remind us not to be bitter with him, because he is still our father no matter what. Even if he hasn’t spoke words of forgiveness to me, I have forgiven him a long time ago. According to my friend, my father already died due to sickness. I am not sure of this because we were not informed of his death, or even invited to his funeral. One thing I’m sure of, that wherever he is right now I don’t hold any resentment about him.

One thing I am holding on: “God is a Father to the Fatherless”. I thank God that even though I don’t have a father, His love is so real that I cannot feel the emptiness of a physical father.
A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows,
is God in his holy dwelling. God sets the lonely in families... (NIV)
Psalm 68:5-6

Mermaid in Thailand

A mermaid is a mythical sea creature having the head and upper body of a woman and the tail of a fish. It is also one of the most popular figures in world folklore. Her characteristic appearance is a young girl, with long hair and a fish tail, carrying a comb and a mirror. Disney even had its animated film entitled “The Little Mermaid”. It’s a story about a young mermaid named Ariel, willing to give up her life in the sea and her identity as a mermaid to gain a human soul and the love of a human prince. Here in the Philippines, the pinoy version mermaid is “Dyesebel”. One TV network here in the Philippines is now airing a TV soap entitled “Dyesebel” where most Filipinos enjoy watching especially young children. When I went to Thailand I wasn’t expecting that I could see a mermaid there.

I saw a mermaid statue at Samila Beach, the famous beach of Songkhla South Thailand. The mermaid is one of the tourist attractions of this beach and also serves as a landmark. Posing with the mermaid is what tourists do when they visit the beach. We were not able to have a long pose with the mermaid because of the many people who also wanted to take photos of it.

Thanks to our ever hospitable hosts for this trip, Jesu and Lalaine. I truly enjoyed my stay in your place... :)

Crappy Broadband Service (Part 2)

I went to the local office of our broadband subscriber today to complain about the overcharged bill. The lady costumer assistant told me to come back after 5 days because she will have to email the person in charge regarding my broadband connection. She could not give me the reason why their company continues to charge us when we already filed for the termination of the connection. I hope this problem will be solved the soonest.

Summer is Over

Rainy days are here again... I took this picture a week ago when I went to Barangay Balulang (one of the barangays here in our city). I was a bit scared while inside the car because I thought we couldn't pass by the road becuase it's already covered with water. But thank God the rain only lasted for a few minutes.

Pain in the Wrist

I always had pain in the wrist every time I wake up in the morning. I couldn’t figure it out what was the cause of the pain and I keep on thinking what I did last night. I just end up with the idea that maybe I just laid over my hand while I was sleeping. Just tonight, I felt the pain again. I found out that the cause of the pain was due to surfing on the internet for long periods of time. My hand always holds on to the mouse. I guess I have to sleep now, because sometimes the pain goes to my neck. Ouch! Good night! :)

Crappy Broadband Services

We were very disappointed with our broadband connection that we decided to terminate it. They could not really fix the problem on why the connection slowed down. We always try to call their costumer service assistants but all we can hear is the same procedure over and over again and they really did not help us at all. What’s worse is that, they don’t give adjustment fees during those times that the connection was very slow. That is why we decided to file for a termination of the connection last March.

We thought our problem with that broadband provider is already over. It wasn’t! They still charged us broadband fees from March until April. So my husband called their customer service again. The customer service assistant told us to wait for another bill next month for the adjustment of fees.

We received the bill last Wednesday. I thought there were no charges anymore, but I was wrong. They still charged us half of the monthly charges. What’s wrong with this broadband provider? It was stated in our bill that it was terminated last March but what we don’t understand is why they keep on charging us until now? Last night, I wanted to email their customer service but I was led to other sites where there are a lot of comments of dissatisfaction from people who subscribes to this broadband provider. Most of these people were already fed up and some transferred to another broadband provider. Most of them stated on their posts that this is indeed a crappy broadband provider. I too probably agree to their comments and reactions.

Tomorrow, I will be visiting their local office to inquire of the charges. I hope they can give me a clear explanation on this matter. As of now, I am using a dial-up service. I just have to be contented with this as of this moment. So far, so good... :)
