Getting Ready for New Year's Eve

Posted by Bogie at Wednesday, December 31, 2008 1 comments Links to this post
We are now a bit busy preparing for New Years Eve. My task is to prepare macaroni salad and spaghetti, while my hubby’s part is to prepare the main dish for the celebration. He is now busy in the kitchen while her good wife is still in front of the PC making some posts… LOL! Anyway, we have to make turns in the kitchen so that it will not be too crowded. I will do my task after he is done with his. I’m not so excited for the celebration because I still have a little asthma and a cough that is really disturbing. I guess the best preparation that I would do is to take my medication on time so that I can have a Happy New Year celebration this evening.

May you all have a joyful New Year!!!

Holiday Eyeglass Frames

Posted by Bogie at Wednesday, December 31, 2008 0 comments Links to this post
Holiday season is not over yet as a lot of people are still on the go for celebrations and shopping. This is the best time to buy what you want because this is the time where a lot of sale and discounts are given on shops. Yesterday, I did some last minute shopping not for myself but for my love ones and I find really good buys for them. As the year ends you might want to buy yourself or your love one a new pair of eyeglasses.

Zenni Optical has a wonderful selection of affordable Holiday frames. All of these frames are available according to your choice and budget. It has lots of unique designs and colors that truly enhance your look perfect for the holiday season. The photo below is one of my choices because of the unique design. It is unique because of the Snowmen and evergreens that parades from the front to the back of the temples of the frame. I find this design really cute. Added to that, I like the color as it fits to the holiday season. You can visit their website to find out which frames that best fits you and your love ones.

Moving On for 2009

Posted by Bogie at Wednesday, December 31, 2008 0 comments Links to this post
If I may look back and evaluate how my year 2008 was, I would say that it was quite a good year for me. It was a year of living a life of faith, fully trusting God on his promises. It was a year of learning a lot from the Lord. God made me learn a lot of lessons from my family, friends and relatives. There were also bad times, and bad experiences but I consider them all as an opportunity to strengthen my relationship with the Lord. It was an opportunity to experience the His goodness and faithfulness in my life. I cannot say that it was a perfect year, but I believe all were arranged by God according to His purposes. I may have some regrets, doubts or even worries for the coming year but I believe God has prepared a lot of great things for me in 2009. In order for us to move on for 2009, we need to learn to forget those things that doesn't make us productive. This includes our pains, sturggles, worries, regrets and bitterness. This also the best time to forgive and forget. Let us also continue to press on towards our goal, no matter what it takes.

Philippians 3: 13 –14 “… But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus”

I can't breathe!

Posted by Bogie at Tuesday, December 30, 2008 0 comments Links to this post
I’m actually experiencing asthma symptoms for 5 days now. I’m so excited for the holiday season because this is a good time for me to do a lot of things with my hubby but sad to say, I was trapped in the house due to my asthma. I didn’t even have the chance to visit my mom’s place on Christmas day because I was already not feeling well. Having asthma is not easy because I can’t even have a good sleep because most of the time, I can’t breathe. There is tightness or pressure in the chest and most of the time there is shortness of breath. When I got to experience this, I usually avoid people so that I can’t talk because the more I talk the more that I can’t breathe. When I am about to sleep I usually experience wheezing (a whistling sound that occurs when exhaling) and coughing. This is very disturbing and I end up sleeping in a sitting position. My asthma is getting better now. I attended a meeting this morning but still I brought with me my nebulizer just in case. Hope to get well this New Year. Please pray for me!

(FYI: I'm using my nebulizer while doing this post. :)

Dog Lovers

Posted by Bogie at Friday, December 26, 2008 0 comments Links to this post
I would say that our family are dog lovers, especially my husband. We have five dogs, four of which are really big dogs (Labradors and Great Danes) and we have one cute dog that is close to a terrier breed. These dogs are part of our daily routine as if they were our kids and one of the most difficult task for them is to prepare their food. But the task seems so easy when you got to see the dogs innocent and funny faces. One of my favorite dogs is Chocolate,a mixed breed terrier you might have seen him on my previous posts. I loved him because his face looks so cute and funny and sometimes he acts like a little child asking you to play with him. I would love to have dogs like him.

One of the cute dogs that I also like are Yorkshire Terriers. These are cute dogs that are lively and gets along well with other pets in the house. Look at the photo, isn’t she cute? Her name is Isabella or Bella for short. I’m sure our Chocolate would be in love with this sweet little pup. I can’t wait to have one like Bella.

Filipino Food: Lechon Baboy

Posted by Bogie at Tuesday, December 23, 2008 4 comments Links to this post

Here in the Philippines, whenever there’s a celebration the lechon will never be absent on every tables. This Christmas I’m sure that all will be having this roasted pig on their Noche Buena. Why am I reminded to post this food over here? It is because my mother in law told me to order a lechon from my friend. I called my friend and her son answered, her mom was out delivering lechon to their customers. Wow, it’s still 2 days before Christmas and yet the people are now starting to have lechon on their homes. I’m sure my friend will be very busy these days.

My Hubby is Mad

Posted by Bogie at Tuesday, December 23, 2008 1 comments Links to this post
It’s been a long time that I haven’t been posting some photos here because there was a problem with my camera’s battery. Now that I have good batteries it’s time to share some photos here. But as I started to plug in my camera in the computer through a USB wire (I don’t know what’s the exam term for this), there was a pop up that warns a virus is detected. So I hurriedly scanned my camera using the Avast anti- virus software and there I found a lot of viruses. What I did was, I deleted all those viruses and click the “delete all” button and decided not to use the camera any longer because it might harm other files in the computer. I thought the problem of that virus thing was over but when it’s about time for my hubby to use the computer, he was so shocked to see a virus. This is his new PC and he is careful that no viruses can penetrate on it. The virus was very obvious because when you got to open the internet explorer button the homepage will direct you to a site that is so, so, so bad, I would say a site that is prohibited. He was so disappointed that he doesn’t want me to use the computer. I just kept silent on his side; because I guess it was my fault. When my hubby is mad, he is so silent and he doesn’t want to talk to anyone. As he was trouble shooting the PC, I was looking at him and praying silently that he will not be angry anymore. Good thing, my hubby assured me today that he was not mad at me, he was mad at the computer virus. He said he will just have to reformat the computer tomorrow. Thank God, I can have a good sleep tonight!

Finding a Criminal Defense Lawyer

Posted by Bogie at Tuesday, December 23, 2008 0 comments Links to this post
I’ve watched movies that showed what it is to become a good criminal defense lawyer. A criminal defense lawyer’s job is very important because it is his hands to get the accused punished. That is why it is very important to find a good lawyer who has a clear understanding of all the significant details of the case and who can bring to light the bare fundamentals of the case. It is very important that he may be able to prove that his client is wrongly accused and does not get punishment.

If you’re looking for the best top rated attorneys, you need Los Angeles Criminal and DUI Defense Attorneys, who are experienced in handling criminal cases. They are available to take your case quickly and confidently, and they will go the extra mile to thoroughly investigate your case. Their law firm’s mission is to aggressively and tenaciously defend their clients, even before the case reaches the courtroom. I was right!

After a few minutes of making my post “My phone is lost”, my mother in law came home. I was so excited to see her and asked her about my phone, but she was all the more eager to see me because she brought my phone, thinking that it was hers. She was so surprised to open her bag with two phones in it. She wanted to answer my phone which was ringing in her bag but she doesn’t know how to operate it. Anyways, I’m thankful that my phone is not lost. Sorry for the water man whom I thought who got my phone. LOL!

My Father is a Soldier

Posted by Bogie at Monday, December 22, 2008 0 comments Links to this post
My father left us at the age of 4 and after that I didn’t heard from him anymore. If there were things I wanted to know about him, I would just ask mom or my relatives who knew him. When I reached pre-school, it was required of us in school to introduce ourselves, to tell us about our families including our parent’s occupation. Of course, I don’t know what my father’s work was so I asked my grandmother. She said my father was a soldier. So every time I got to recite in front of the class, I would say my father is a soldier. At the back of my mind, I was thinking what he looks like. I was thinking he was a brave man ready for the war with wearing the exact tactical gear from head to toe. I was then proud to think of my dad that way. But on the other hand, I was wondering. If my father is a soldier, how come my mom never told me about it? I really don’t have a clue if he was a soldier or not because there was no picture at home where he was wearing Tactical Pants, tactical vests or even tactical boots. But still I continued to believe that he was a soldier.

Years after, I heard my relatives teasing my little brother about my dad being a soldier. They were asking him, “where’s your father”? And my brother would answer “He died on the war”. I was shocked with the news and find it out if it was true. So I asked my mother about it and she said that it’s not true. The truth was my father was never really a soldier, it was just a joke. Maybe my grandmother gave me that reply that my father was a soldier to end up all my questioning about my father.

My Phone is Lost

The last time I can remember that I was using my phone was just this 2:00pm. By 5:00pm I was reminded to text my husband that is why I was looking for it and was surprised that I couldn't anymore find it. I dialed my number through our local phone but it just keeps on ringing. I searched the entire house and was listening if I could hear a phone ringing but there was none. Oh my, where could my phone be? One of the thoughts that is in my mind today is maybe my mother in law mistakenly brought with her my phone becuase it has the same look with hers or the worst the water man who came to our house today got my phone. Anyways, I just hope my phone will be found the soonest.

Off!

When I’m blogging late at night, I usually turn off the lights to save energy. But when all the lights are off, my mosquito friends keeps biting my legs and arms. I couldn't help it scratching all the mosquito bites and most of the time I get disturbed by it. My remedy to this problem is to apply OFF lotion; it’s an insect repellent lotion. It really helps me go on with what I am doing. That is why the lotion is always placed at our computer desk. It truly is a great help. LOL!

Franchising: Is it Right for You?

A lot of people are now affected with the financial crisis going on around the globe. People would resort to find opportunities in any way they can just to make ends met. Gift Wrapping

One of the most favorite things I like to do during the holiday season is wrapping gifts. I like to give gifts that is uniquely and beautifully wrap. It's good to see the smile on people's faces when they receive the gifts. I can see their excitement and curiosity on what is inside on it. This Christmas, I see to it that all gifts are wrapped differently. Different in size, shape and color. Last night, I wrapped a very cute gift for my Christmas kringle and I'm so excited to give it to her today in our party. The sad thing was I forgot to bring the gift. Until now, I'm still staring at the gift and thinking how to give it to her since I don't know where she lives. Anyways, it's really good to make our gifts presentable and pleasing but it's not good to forget gifts.. LOL! just like what I did today.

Thankful Thursday 5

Posted by Bogie at Thursday, December 18, 2008 13 comments Links to this post

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil, for you are with me;
your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
Psalm 23:4

I thank the Lord for His protection for my co-worker in school. She was hit by a man and grabbed her bag as she went home last Wednesday. I thank God for giving her enough courage to shout for help and all their neighbors heard her loud scream. The doctor said that her head doesn’t have any complications at all, she just needed enough rest. The news spread out to the entire community and two days after somebody came to their place and returned her bag, they found it somewhere near the place where the incident happened. As she checked her bag, all her money and stuff were all in place, except for a few pesos left on her purse. But the important things were all there. God is so good that she only not preserved my friend’s life but also the things that matters to her. By Saturday, the man was identified and was caught by the policemen.

God is so good and His protection is always upon us no matter what the situation may become. I thank Him for he is my ever protector and a refuge in times of help.

~ Psalm 121:8 “The LORD will guard your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forever”.

~ Psalm 27: 1 “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

Jesus is the Reason for the Season

Posted by Bogie at Wednesday, December 17, 2008 0 comments Links to this post

Why do you celebrate Christmas? We celebrate Christmas because first of all it’s the time of the year where we can truly celebrate God’s great love for us. For some, they like to celebrate Christmas because it’s fun, they receive a lot of gifts, families come together and etc. But it’s also a wonderful time to appreciate how blessed we were because a Savior came to gave his life for all of us. Jesus is truly the reason for the season and nothing more. May you all experience his love as you celebrate Christmas.

Have a blessed Christmas!

What's in your box?

Christmas is all about love and giving and I suppose that mostly all of us are now busy trying to find the right gifts for our love ones and friends. Finding the right gifts is the hardest part because we wanted to make the recipient happy. That is why it takes a lot of time, effort and I would say money to wrap the best gift for our family and friends. But it always doesn’t have to be expensive. What matters most is the heart that gives. No matter what you put inside your box this Christmas, make sure that you also put your heart into it.

Organizing a Christmas Caroling Activity

Posted by Bogie at Tuesday, December 16, 2008 0 comments Links to this post
Tomorrow will be the start of Christmas caroling here in the Philippines. I suppose there will be a lot of people especially the kids are now preparing for this activity. For those of you who have not yet planned or prepared for this activity here’s my suggestion on organizing this kind of activity.

  • Invite friends who really enjoy singing. These are friends who are really gifted in singing.
  • Invite friends who are not gifted in singing but are courageous enough to sing. (LOL!) Just make sure they don’t overpower the voices of those who are “on key”.
  • Tell your friends to get the right look. Here in the Philippines, the most common is to wear colorful outfits. You can ask your friends to wear something red, yellow or green.
  • Don’t forget to bring a musical instrument. A guitar and a tambourine would be nice.
  • Provide song sheets for your friends. Not all of them can memorize the lyrics of the songs. Also make sure that you have the right lyrics to every song.
  • Don’t forget to bring flashlights and other stuff needed for emergencies.
  • Lastly, always be reminded for your safety. Especially if you are visiting places or neighborhood that you are not familiar with.
I guess that would be all. Have fun!

The Spirit of Christmas

Posted by Bogie at Wednesday, December 10, 2008 1 comments Links to this post

I got this award from Cookie. Thanks for sharing this award.

What is the true Spirit of Christmas? Is it having fun? Is it having many many gifts? The true Spirit of Christmas is all about Worship. Everyone who came to see the baby Jesus born in a manger, the shephereds, the 3 wise men, and all the angels came to worship Him. The true Spirit of Christmas is a celebration of the birth of our Savior.

As we celebrate Christmas, may we spend time to truly worship our Savior and thank Him for what He has done in our lives.

I would like to pass this award to Demcy, Jennifer, Aiza, Anna and Wrigley.

May you all have a blessed Christmas!

Jingle Bells!

Posted by Bogie at Tuesday, December 09, 2008 2 comments Links to this post
Christmas season is fast approaching and a few days from now, children will be starting to sing Christmas carols in our homes. Here in the Philippines, caroling starts on December 16 and we need to be ready for this because a lot of kids will come over to sing Christmas tunes. Of course, the song Jingle Bells will not be out of the list for these kids. Last Sunday, I’ve heard a few kids making early Christmas carols and they sang the Jingle Bells happily. But they were singing a different lyric to the song. Last year, I also watched a Filipino comedy show where people are asked to sing the Jingle bells song and found out that almost all of them don’t know the proper lyrics of the song. So before the Christmas caroling starts be sure to memorize the exact lyrics of this song. I’ve posted the lyrics below and enjoy singing!

JINGLE BELLS

Dashing through the snow
In a one horse open sleigh
O'er the fields we go
Laughing all the way
Bells on bob tails ring
Making spirits bright
What fun it is to laugh and sing
A sleighing song tonight

Oh, jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh
Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh

A day or two ago
I thought I'd take a ride
And soon Miss Fanny Bright
Was seated by my side
The horse was lean and lank
Misfortune seemed his lot
We got into a drifted bank
And then we got upsot

Oh, jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh
Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh yeah

Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Short History of the Song:
Jingle Bells is one of the most famous American Christmas songs. It was originally written for Thanksgiving! The author and composer of Jingle Bells was a minister called James Pierpoint who composed the song in 1857 for children celebrating his Boston Sunday School Thanksgiving. The song was so popular that it was repeated at Christmas, and indeed Jingle Bells has been reprised ever since. (source: http://www.carols.org.uk/jingle_bells.htm)

The Boogie Dance

Posted by Bogie at Monday, December 08, 2008 1 comments Links to this post
I really don't know where my Mom and Dad got my name, but I think it's obviously from a dance called boogie or as it is also known as boogie-woogie. When I was still in grade school my mom would usually spell my name as B-O-O-G-I-E, similar to that of the dance. But I don't want my name to be associated with the dance because almost all of my friends and classmates are making fun of me. That is why I changed the spelling.

Why am I posting this dance here in my blog? I am not a dancer and I can say that I am not really good at it. Just that, I found out that most of the people are directed to my site because they are searching for the Boogie Dance. I just want to give them a small idea of what the dance is all about.

Dance Description:
The name boogie-woogie is used mostly in Europe; the closest thing in the US is probably East Coast Swing. What today is called boogie-woogie would during the 1950s have been called rock'n'roll. The term boogie woogie is confusing; the dance can be danced to the music style called boogie-woogie but is most often danced to rock music of various kinds. The name was taken since the name rock'n'roll used in competition dance was already taken by a highly acrobatic dance form. Boogie woogie as a competition dance is a led dance, not choreographed, and contains no acrobatic elements.

The usual step variation of this dance is a six beat dance pattern, usually cued as "step, step, tri-ple step, tri-ple step", with words "step" taking a whole beat and pieces "tri" and "ple" together taking one beat. Triple forms a syncopated step, where "ple" is typically somewhat delayed from being in the half way between the beats, which matches the syncopated music used in boogie-woogie has also counts like "one" "two" "one" "two" "three". (source: Wikipedia encyclopedia)

You can also watch the video to get the exact dance steps. Enjoy dancing!

Thankful Thursday 4

Posted by Bogie at Thursday, December 04, 2008 4 comments Links to this post
It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord,
and to sing praises unto thy name, Oh Most High. Psalm 92:1

It's Thursday once again and it's another wonderful opportunity to thank God for His goodness. Here's my thankful list for this week... I thank the Lord for 3 P's!

  • I thank the Lord for giving me so much PATIENCE... Honestly, my husband and I are so annoyed already with our slow broadband connection and the internet provider is still not doing anything about it. This is the reason why I wasn't able to immediately make my TT post because of the unstable connection. But despite that, the Lord has been so good that allowed us to be patient situations like these.
  • I thank God for his PROVISION... last month I prayed that God would bless me so that I can have the opportunity to buy gifts for my family and friends for Christmas. I also asked God to provide for us the finances that we will be offering in our church for our Church Building construction. Truly the Lord has been faithful and has answered all my prayers. Now, I am planning what to buy for my family and friends this Christmas... :~)
  • I thank God for his PRESENCE.. Everyday, the Lord has been faithful to allow me to feel his presence. As I wake up in the morning, my prayer is that the Lord would allow me to always walk in the path of His grace. He never fails to let me feel that He is always with me.
Thank you Lord for everything!

What's your thankful list this week? Just click the image above and join me in thanking God for He truly deserves our thanksgiving!

Marriage Monday: The Sanctuary of Christian Marriage

Posted by Bogie at Tuesday, December 02, 2008 6 comments Links to this post

It’s first Monday of the Month and I thank the Lord for giving me this opportunity to join other Christians sharing thoughts how God has touched their marriage. This is my first time in Marriage Mondays and I felt so blessed to be here.

As I read Andrea at Embracing Him, I was really inspired and encourage writing a post about my marriage. I am still young to be sharing about my marriage but I know this is all for the glory of God.

A sanctuary is a place of refuge and protection; shelter. Our marriage should be a place of refuge and protection for each other. It is allowing your partner to feel that with God’s help they are safe with you no matter what the situation may become. In scarcity and in abundance, in sickness and in health or no matter what the situation may be. It is allowing them to know that they still love you and accept you no matter what.

Two years ago, my husband has been diagnosed with Mitral Valve Prolapse (MVP) and suffered a lot of uncomfortable moments at that time. He can’t enjoy life the way he wanted to and he did come to the point of being depressed. I was with him during that moment but sometimes I get affected with how he feels and ending up not understanding his situation. I just end up praying and praying and praying, and God’s grace was so abundant in our lives that He allowed me to feel what my husband is going through. I praise God that he healed my husband from that sickness.

I can say that our marriage can only be a place of protection, a place of refuge when God is in it. When God is involve in every aspect of our marriage we can never get wrong with everything we do. We can always have a sanctuary in our marriage.

2 Corinthians 12:9 “ My grace is sufficient for you for my power is made perfect in weaknesses

1 Corinthians 2:3
“I was with you in weakness and in fear and in much trembling,

I have been using Globelines Broadband for about 4 months now and I’m sorry to say that I am not really satisfied with their service. The connection is very slooooooowwwww. I always make a call to their customer service to help me fix the problem, but until now I’m still experiencing the same problem. I wanted to edit my blog, add my friend’s links but I can’t because I got disconnected most of the time.

As I search about Globelines, I found out that a lot of people are already complaining about their service. It's good to know that I am not alone! I read a lot of blog post and most of them were written out of anger and disappointment. Some posts made me laugh because it’s really true and I just don’t have the courage to really air it out. Good for them!

Below are some of the posts I find really brave enough to share their disappointments with Globe.

These are only few because I couldn't open another page because of a slow connection.
