FPF: My Kindergarten Graduation

Who's that little girl? Well that's me when I was still six years old. This photo was taken during my graduation in kindergarten in the year 1985. It was supposed to be a happy day for me because I was the valedictorian and had received so many awards. But I wasn't feeling very well that day because of asthma. Look at my face... looks like I'm gasping. Isn't it? Anyway, I find my red earrings cute. (LOL!)

An iPod for Dads

Every year, I am always tasked to look for giveaways for Father’s Day celebration in our church. This year, I wanted to surprise the Dads in our church with something very useful in their day to day activities. Honestly, I find it very difficult to look for Father’s Day giveaways especially if I am working on a budget. Most often, I just thought of giving them coffee mugs, ties, towels, hankies, flashlights and other small things because this is only what my budget allows me to buy. If money is not be an issue, I would definitely surprise every Dad in our church with an iPod. Cool idea isn’t it? I’m sure this kind of giveaway will surely surpise all the fathers in our church because this will give them the opportunity to catch up with the latest trend in today's high tech society.

While browsing over the internet today, I’ve found out that Charter has special deals for Father’s Day. They will be giving away iPod Touches to show off it’s new mobile app for iPod, iPhone and Blackberry. With this new mobile app, you can take along with you the world of Charter anywhere you go. Charter’s new mobile app allows you to discover charter services, check TV and On Demand listings, view on demand trailers, pay bills, access news, sports and weather and many more.

Thankful Thursday : Happy Birthday Mom!

Today is my mom's 57th Birthday. I am so thankful to God for adding another year in her life. I thank God for giving her good health and granting all the desires of her heart. I am also thankful to God for without her, life wouldn't be easy. My mom experienced a lot of pain and struggles when they separated with my father, but I am still thankful to God because He made my mom a stronger person.

It is my prayer that God will continue to bless her in all aspect of her life. I pray for strength and good health and long life.

Happy Birthday to my funny and loving Mama!

First Day of School

Today is our first day of school. I had my class this morning and I was so happy to met my cute students especially the Nursery kids. They all look so excited coming to school that all of them arrived very early. The first was a tiring day because I still have to teach the kids how to behave well in class but their cuteness gave me added energy to go on...

Tomorrow will be another day... Oh, God bless me with more strength!

BF and GF Talk

Whenever my cousins come to visit me in the house, I never fail to ask them about thier relationships. I often ask them if they already have boyfriends or girlfriends. One of cousin admitted that she already had a boyfriend while some other girl cousins would just give me a sweet smile. The boys on the other hand would honestly tell me that they do have girlfriends. My cousins are years younger than me,that is why I can easily talk to them like their big sister. For the girls, I told them to introduce their boyfriends to their parents to check if the guy is really sincere. Added to that, I also reminded them to look for a boyfriend who has a good character, who is loving and most of all a person who loves God. If they will do this, I’m sure they won’t have problems in their relationships. I also told the boys the same story. I also told them not to play around with girls, instead they will have to respect and love them no matter what. One of my cousins told me that he and her girlfriend are having misunderstanding lately and he doesn’t know how to win her heart. I told him, “You have to learn Sweet things to say to your girlfriend so she will listen to you”. While all of my cousins were listening about our conversation, everyone laughed and made fun of my cousin who honestly shared her feelings toward her girlfriend. Good thing, I can still relate to my cousin even if I’m already a bit older to them.

What Happened to Your Eyebrows?

I have a 5 year old student who always comes to class with plucked eyebrows. At first, I thought she just accidentally played her mom's shaver. I always asked her, "what happened to your eyebrows?" she will just give me her sweet smile as her reply. Sometimes, I asked her, did you play with your mom's shaver?, then she will just nod and smile. I noticed that her eyebrows are being plucked regularly. That is why I was bothered a bit and thought of talking to her parents about it.

Last Wednesday, she celebrated her 5th birthday at school. Her mom and grandmother was there so I finally took the chance to talk to them about the child's eyebrows. By the way, she celebrated her birthday with no eyebrows at all. I asked her mom about it and she told me that it was also there problem because the child keeps on plucking her eyebrows especially when she's left alone in the house. They have tried a lot of strategies and reward system on helping her to overcome it but the child keeps on doing it. Hearing about the mom's story, I was a bit concerned about the child. I think there is a psychological implication about her behavior as what I have learned in my Psychology class before.

What I did, I browse over the internet and found out about Trichotillomania. It's a psychiatric condition in which an individual has an uncontrollable urge to pull out his or her own body hair. For people suffering from trichotillomania, hair pulling is more than a habit. It is rather a compulsive behavior, which the person finds very hard to stop.

People with trichotillomania pull their hair out of the root from places like the scalp, eyebrows, eyelashes, or even the pubic area. Some people even pull handfuls of hair, which can leave bald patches on the scalp or eyebrows. Other people pull out their hair one strand at a time. Some inspect the strands after pulling them out or play with the hair after it's been pulled. About half of people with this condition also have the habit of putting the plucked hair in mouth.

Until now, I'm a bit worried about my student but I am hoping that it isn't so serious like what I have found out. I am also praying that my student and her parents will be able to find out remedies on her behavior.

Sleeping Early

I am starting to sleep early beginning next week. I'm back to teaching pre-school kids and I need to be early in school by 7:00 AM. This won't be an easy schedule for me, but I am trying my very best to keep with the said schedule. I know I will get used to it in due time.

Using Puppets

We had our church Sunday school teachers training today. One of the highlights of our training was teaching the teachers on using puppets to teach children. These are wonderful opportunity to teach kids in a creative way. Whenever I use puppets to tell stories to children, you will definitely catch their attention right away. They gladly respond to every questions that you say and they happily listen to every details of the story.

Anyway, it was a fun and educational training. Hope to have more trainings soon. :)

Looks Real

This is my nephew's toy. I saw his nanny carrying this as if it was a real pup, I was about to ask where did they buy a new pup. When she came close to me, I noticed that it was just only a toy. It looks so real and I thought of having one for me. Cute isn't it?
