Cagayan de Oro River Rafting

One of the best adventures I enjoyed the most was rafting at Cagayan de Oro river. I had rafting twice 2 years ago and I can say that it was the most enjoyable experience I had. At first, I was kind of scared because I don’t know how to swim and I was afraid that the raft will tip over. But all my fears subside when I eventually get into the raft and enjoyed the rapids.

Although not all the time you will be encountering rapids, but in the middle of the rafting experience you will also have the opportunity to witness beautiful scenes of Cagayan de Oro. If you plan to do river rafting here in Cagayan de Oro, you can bring along your Nikon binoculars to fully enjoy sight-seeing. You will not only find beautiful landscapes but also different little creatures as well.

Below is one of the nice photos we got during our rafting experience. This was in the middle of the rafting experience wherein you will just have to rest for a while because the rapids are still on the other side.

Summer season is fast approaching and river rafting here in Cagayan de Oro will be at its peak. As they say, when the sun is up the rapids are also very good. So, go ahead. Enjoy your summer vacation and make river rafting in Cagayan de Oro the first adventure on the list.

A Visit at the Park

One of the places we visited when we had our Field Trip with my students was Gaston Park. It’s one of the famous parks here in Cagayan de Oro City because it is located near San Agustin Cathedral Church, the famous landmark of the city.

During our visit, we roam around and enjoyed the beauty of the park. The kids on the other hand enjoyed the playground equipment and everyone of them had so much fun. Some were playing on the monkey bars and other enjoyed the swings. The boys enjoyed the slides but sometimes I can’t help myself but to worry about their safety. Good thing, their parents were there so it made my work a lot easier. Although it was tiring for me to be supervising a lot of kids but the visit at the park was one of the experiences that the kids couldn't forget.

Are You Beautiful?

When can you tell that a person is beautiful?

My little students would tell me a person is beautiful because she has long hair. Other girls would tell, “Because she has nice hair clips.”

My teenage cousins would tell… “Because she has fair skin and wears nice clothes”

My friends would tell… “Because she wears fashionable clothes and stylish shoes”

All these are just a portion of what real beauty is. Real beauty comes from deep within you. A beautiful person is the person who has a good heart. Even if you are wearing the most expensive make up, the best acne products or the most luxurious gadget but your heart is not right then all these things are useless.

If you want to be beautiful, set your heart first. Make it right by putting all good things in it. Good thoughts, good memories, good experiences... Remove all bitterness and hatred then you will realize that God has truly made you beautiful.

The Circles

When I was still a teenager, the only thing that I worry about my face was pimples. But now that I am a bit older, there are many things that have changed including in my face including the occurrence of under eye circles. According to studies these circles were actually caused by leaky capillaries, tiny blood vessels of the skin around the eyes. So it isn't about sleeping late, staying in front of the computer for too long but it’s about the process of oxidizing hemoglobin. A bit complicated to understand but that is the real cause of the problem.

The dark circles under my eye are not so evident so I still don’t worry about how to get rid of dark circles under my eyes. For the meantime, a good face powder will do.

Ruby Tuesday: Jollibee

This photo was taken last December. One of my students celebrated his birthday and his mom gave him a Jollibee Kiddie Party treat. The kids were so happy when Jollibee (the mascot) came out and danced with them. I don't know why this mascot bring such joy to every Filipino child.

For more of Ruby Tuesday post, visit The Work of the Poet.

Health Benefits of Fasting

One of the spiritual disciplines I do to strengthen my relationship with God is to do fasting. It is when I do not eat solid food for a specific time of the day and I will just have to drink water to keep my body hydrated.

Many people believed that fasting is only done for spiritual purposes. But not just spiritual, it can also bring many good benefits in our body. Fasting acts as a natural colon cleanser for our body. It is a time of rest for our body’s digestive system. When our digestive system is at rest it can expel any remaining waste matter from our body.

Graveyard Shift

Lack of sleep or staying late at night most of the time tremendously affects our eyes and its surrounding nerves. Since the entry of the internet phenomenon, I constantly immersed myself into graveyard shift. Blogging, computer games and web surfing is so addicting that I spent so much time with my computer like there is no tomorrow. Lately, I was surprised to see in front of the mirror that I now have under eye dark circles which brought me to think over about my compulsive computer activities. However, it also appears that changing behavior in most cases, has found to be ineffective to get rid of the unwanted discoloration. Well, I guess I have to surf the web for actual cause and some possible treatment.

High School Picture

This is my class picture way back when I was still in 3rd year. This was the informal pose and the formal one was posted in our yearbook. I find this funny to look at because our looks were way too different before. Some were slimmer and others have weird hairdo (that includes me). I'm excited to see my classmates this coming Saturday in our school's foundation day. I'm hoping we will all have a fun filled get together.

TV Talk

Last Friday, hubby and I went to an appliance shop because he was checking for an acoustic guitar. While entering the shop, we saw different series of samsung lcd tvs. I was glued to it because I find it very attractive to watch. Nice resolution, nice color… and there I am standing in front of the TV. Hubby went on his way to the shop while I stayed near the entrance door still watching the TV. After a few minutes, I noticed there were plenty of people behind me who were also watching TV so I decided to enter the shop and go where hubby was. While inside the shop, I saw my husband also glued to the LCD TV displayed inside. LOL! I was checking on the TV price and some of it was quiet affordable. The shop made some payment terms that is affordable to the customers.

One of the LCD TV that caught our attention was the Samsung 650 series. It really has enhanced picture quality that even an old movie can caught your attention. Hubby was whispering to me…we’ll buy something like that! LOL! I told him… only if we will have lots and lots of money.

Getting a Master's Degree

I met my high school friend yesterday in one of the shops here in our city. She’s a teacher like me, and she worked in the public school. While we were talking about our teaching career, she told me to pursue on getting a Master's Degree in Education so I can find a nice place in the government. In other words, it would also mean getting a nice high paying job.

I am interested on getting a Master's Degree especially now that I can easily enroll to any online university. However, I still have to think it over again because I feel like I am not yet ready for it.

Rabbits

It’s Chinese New Year! Many Chinese people are celebrating the Year of the Rabbit. Some are fond of buying a rabbit as their pet because according to their belief, it brings good luck. There are many rabbits right now that are on sale on most pet shops. A rabbit with a bow tie is one of the cutest I’ve seen so far. Some have specialized necklaces, hats and clothes. Cool isn’t it?

Online Shopping

In today’s high tech society, shopping can now be done in just a click of your computers or phones. My husband for one enjoys shopping online because he got to buy products that are not available here in our country. He was so happy today because he received his latest purchase online. He had purchased a few items already all of them were good deals. He has bought a lot of guitar gadgets, jewelries (for me), craft materials and many more. If you asked if he has tried to buy gold online, well he hasn’t done yet. That requires big money and we still can’t afford to buy one.
