Hulagway sa Kinabuhi: Payong

Payong in English means Umbrella. Everyday I always see to it that my umbrella is in my bag. It is very useful in the Philippines' sunny weather. It protects me from skin damage. Added to that, it can also protect me from getting wet in a heavy rain.

Before you go out of your house, make sure you have your Payong with you. Got it?

Essay Writing Contests

The first time I joined essay writing contests was when I was in Grade six. It was a city wide contest wherein I competed with all grade school students in Cagayan de Oro. I wasn’t that confident to join in that contest, but thank God I won 3rd place. That was the start of my love for joining essay writing contests.

In today’s times, I am not sure if there are still essay writing contests done in schools. As far as I know, people can now easily avail of essay writing services online. Through these, people can now buy essay or just request for editing an essay. This is helpful for people who don’t have the time to write as well as to people who don’t have the talent to write a good essay. But if you have it all, the time and the talent then you can do your own essay.

Back to essay writing contests... I still would love to join one in the future. Although I don’t consider myself as a good writer, but I think it will be a good opportunity for me to improve my writing skills as well as to be given a chance to win wonderful prizes.

My friend Sheryl (the one in yellow) invited us for dinner. Since we had lots of left overs we decided to bring it home. I was holding a white plastic bag which contains the foods I bought for hubby. While the other plastic bag on Kathy's hand was our left overs.

FYI: I brought home 2 white plastic bags full of foods. :-) Hubby had a yummy dinner that night.

Lost?

Have you experienced being lost in an unfamiliar place? I have been in a similar situation too. Usually I use landmarks to guide me to the place I wanted to go but most of the time, using landmarks won’t work especially when people gave you the wrong information.

In today’s high tech society, things are much easier. Getting lost in an unfamiliar place is not a problem anymore because people nowadays have owned a number of GPS systems. In France this is what they call it systèmes GPS and this is one great tool for you to arrive at your destination in France without the fear of getting lost.

Baby Events

I always loved to attend events for babies specially christening and child dedication. Usually I am invited to be one of the witnesses or the godparents of the baby. Every invitations that I received is such a great honor and an opportunity to be a blessing to the baby as well as to the family.
I find baby events cute especially the decorations and the giveaways. In one occasion, I received a personalized christening giveaway. It’s a cute baby bottle that looks like a toy, but when you open it there is a mini-towel inside it. I find it very cute. If I am given the opportunity to host a baby event, I will be very glad because I love it. I love to plan about decorations, foods and giveaway.

First Day in School

Today is my first day in school for school year 2011-2012. Since I used to sleeping late during the summer break, I felt sleepy in the middle of my class. (LOL) But I was happy today because I was able to meet a lot of new faces. My previous students also came and they were so happy to meet me. Everyone never failed to give me a hug and a kiss.

The first day of school was fun. The kids love the games and all the practical life activities we made in the classroom. All of them were very responsive in answering questions and they were very obedient to follow all the instructions.

Tomorrow is going to be another day in school. I hope that the kid’s excitement for school will still be the same. I hope every kid will truly have a fun and enjoyable learning experience in our school.

For December, my students will be making Christmas Cards for their parents. They will also be making Christmas Decorations and the most exciting activity for them is the Christmas Party. While thinking about all the things we will be doing in December, I am now very excited about it.

Food Trip Friday: Kinilaw

Kinilaw (fish soaked in vinegar with lots of spices) is one of my favorites. I like to eat this with grilled pork, with boiled saba banana or with Lechon. If there are special gatherings and this is served on the table, I definitely won't miss it.

Teenagers and Drug Addiction

One of the most crucial issues among teenagers nowadays is drug addiction. I've heard a lot of stories about people being addicted to drugs and I find it very sad. That is why it is very important for every parents to be aware of the possible danger their kids may face while teenagers explore the adult world.

How will you know if your teenager has been into drug addiction? Monitor your child’s studies. Check if your child has not lost interest in his/her studies and keep track of his/her attendance in class. Most teenagers who are into drugs often skip classes and they frequently get failing marks. Also monitor your child’s behavior. You know very well as a parent when there are changes in your child’s behavior. Teenagers who are into drugs are more secretive and are not open to any communication except only when they need money.

Parents who have teenagers who are into drug addiction often don’t know what to do to help them. One of the best ways in helping teenagers is to seek Drug Addiction Treatment in as much as possible. Since they are teenagers, it is very important to provide them a Drug Treatment that suits their age as well as their problem of addiction. It is very important to bring them to a place that provides safe and comfortable for recovery. I have visited http://www.freedomdrugrehab.com today and I have learned that they are one of the most successful drug treatment in the US today. One of the best things I like in them is that they don’t treat individuals as drug addicts but they are considered as students, people learning to live without substance use. They provide drug treatment programs that will hopefully help individuals especially teenagers get back into their normal life and be able to live as productive individuals in the community.
