Special Cleaning Day

One of the tasks that seem very difficult to handle in our school is how to maintain it clean and tidy. We wanted to provide the kids with a clean learning environment but we have difficulty on daily maintenance especially that the entire school is difficult to clean because of the huge area. To solve the problem we hired a school cleaner to do the cleaning every day. However, she can’t clean the entire place in just a single day so we opt to have a special cleaning day every Saturday. This is a day in which the cleaner will have to spend her whole day just to clean the entire school. If ever there is a need to hire additional manpower we will do so.

So far, the school is clean because we only have a few students for this school year. Hopefully by next year, we are expecting a number of students and this time we will need a professional cleaning service to clean the entire school. People Do What People See

I was able to join Dr. John Maxwell's Million Leaders Mandate training last July 19-20, 2012 at Lim Ket Kai Center. I have learned a lot of things in the training and one of the things I learned is the principle on  Leadership by Example.

12 When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place. “Do you understand what I have done for you?” he asked them. 13 “You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am. 14 Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. 15 I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. 16 Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. 17 Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them. - John 13:12-17

I have learned that leaders must always be conscious of the fact that they are setting the example and others are going to do what they do, for better or for worse. 

I guess this applies not only to whatever organization we are in, but also in our own homes. As parents, or adults we should set an example to our children and to the people around us because they will surely do what they see in us.

Here are the Dr. John Maxwell's Modelling Principle.

1. Followers are always watching what you do.
2. It is easier to teach what is right than to do what is right.
3. We should work on changing ourselves first before trying to improve others.
4. The most valuable gift a leader can give is being a good example.

Let's begin the challenge of being a good example to everyone today. Let's go back to our Facebook status and check what has been written there. Check if it sets an example for others, especially the young ones who are reading it. Being a good example can be a challenging task but at the same time it will bring tremendous impact in your life as well as your follower.
