It started to rain last Saturday and until now, the rain seems unending. Last night’s rain was so heavy and I can’t help but be afraid of a possible flood in our city. I was thinking about my relatives who lives near the river and I prayed for their safety.
I read on the news and there’s a tropical storm “Ramon” in Visayas and Mindanao. PAGASA defines a tropical storm as a “moderate tropical cyclone with maximum wind speed of 64 to 118 kilometers per hour (kph) and with closed isobars.” PAGASA estimated Ramon to bring rainfall of 10 to 30 millimeters per hour (moderate to heavy) within the 400-kilometer (km) diameter of the storm.
The areas under Storm Signal No. 2 are: Southern Leyte, Eastern Samar, Surigao del Norte, Siargao Island Surigao del Sur, Dinagat Island
Those under Storm Signal No. 1 are: Masbate ,Ticao Island, Romblon, Sorsogon, Northern Leyte, Biliran Island, Bohol, Cebu, Northern Negros, Northern Samar, Western Samar, Panay Island, Guimaras Island, Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Misamis Oriental, Camiguin Island.
PAGASA reminded residents in low-lying and mountainous areas under storm signals to be alert against possible flash floods, landslides and storm surges. It added that said those living in coastal areas should be alerted against big waves or storm surges.
