My Recent Photos

by Bogie April 4, 2020

I am now on my 4th Day of the 30-Day Blog Challenge and today’s blogging prompt is to share about a recent photo of myself. I’ll be sharing to you photos of the first quarter of the year 2020.

January 2020

This photo was taken by a fellow blogger Mike Baños while covering the Art Tents event at Centrio Ayala Mall last January 17, 2020.

February 2020

I had the opportunity to be one of the selected participants of the American English Training of Trainers at Kong Hua School in Cagayan de Oro City. I will share my experience on this on a separate blog post.

March 2020

Last March 10, we had our class picture in school and teachers were also required to have solo shots. While the photographer was taking my photo, I was reminded that I needed to have a 2×2 ID picture for an insurance document that I have to submit the next day. Thus, I asked the photographer to print one for me. Right after, he sent me the photos and I was so happy because he offered it for free.

Sharing and writing about my recent photos was a bit challenging. Probably because I am bit older now and I am afraid about my flaws; including my chubby cheeks. However, I don’t think I can hide my flaws as they are my reality. My flaws are actually what makes me unique to others.

Whenever I look at the mirror and I am not happy with what I see, I always remind myself that I am fearfully and wonderfully made by God. I am beautiful and I am unique.

Finally, when your recent photo reminds you of your flaws, embrace it. You are not perfect but you are beautiful and unique.

Old Photographs and Memories

by Bogie April 3, 2020

Looking at old photographs brings us memories and makes us feel nostalgic. As photographers would say, your photos are your memories. They are your family’s future point of reference to your life. Back in the day, we don’t take pictures that often. The only time we’ll have one is during school events. My mother had kept a few old photos of myself. Today, I am sharing them for Day 3 of the 30-Day Blog Challenge – Old photos of myself.

Old Photo #1: A Princess in the Making

This photo was taken when I was 4 years old and that little boy is my brother. It was for a fund-raising event in our school and I am the 12th Princess. I have lots of happy memories with my brother during preschool.

Old Photo #2 : Preschool – With Honors

This photo was my brother’s graduation in Kindergarten. He was the class valedictorian. While me on the other hand received a With Honors and a Most Diligent award in our Nursery Class.

Old Photos #3: Completing Kindergarten

I completed Kindergarten and just like my brother I was the class valedictorian. The photo show that I was not feeling well because of asthma. Nevertheless, I was at the Graduation Ceremony because I had to make a speech and at the same time lead our class in singing our graduation song – “We are the World”. Additionally, all of the graduating kindergartens at that time wore a yellow dress in support of the then Philippine President Corazon Aquino.

Old Photos #4 : Grade School Graduation

This photo reminds me about my grade school graduation. It was a memorable day because my mom was the one who hand me my awards . Moreover, it was the only time my mother took a leave from work to receive my awards. Most of the time our school events and theirs happen on the same dates.

Are you are feeling a little down these days? Why not have a trip back time with your old photos and re-discover happy memories.

Character Matters

by Bogie April 2, 2020

Character as defined by Character First Education is the inward values that determine actions. A mental model used for making decisions. Moreover, it is the moral compass that guided your choices and who we are when no one else is watching. Altogether, it is who you are deep inside.

Does Character Matters Today?

Definitely Yes!  Many problems nowadays can be traced to a lack of character. In schools this includes bullying, disrespect, cheating, vandalism and many others.  Unquestionably, the spread of COVID-19 these days happen so rapidly because a lot of people do not follow a simple rule of STAYING AT HOME.

In the news we hear politicians accusing each other. Businessmen getting involve in financial corruption. Additionally, leaders and famous celebrities involving themselves in immorality.

Learning Character Lessons Online

Because I am always at home these days, I decided to make use of my time by joining a class online. It is an online seminar on Building Student Character inside the Classroom offered for free by Vibal Group. The seminar topic was so relevant these days. As mentioned by the resource speaker there are discussions nowadays on the proposal of reviving Good Manners and Right Conduct (GMRC) as a full school subject in the Philippine K-12 Curriculum. I believe our national leaders have also felt the need that this is essential for our learners is truly necessary nowadays. In addition to this, I also learned a lot from the seminar. I can’t wait for the next school year to come so I can practice what I have learned.

Top 3 Character Strengths

What do you know about your own character strengths? I’m sure you know about one, but maybe you find it hard to confirm if a certain one is really one of your strength. You can actually answer VIA Character Strengths Survey which is available for free online. My top 3 results are:

Lady smiling showing good character with arms raised
