5 Things I Miss While on Quarantine

by Bogie April 13, 2020

Today is day 29 of general community quarantine here in Cagayan de Oro City. But while I’m stuck at home for almost a month, I realized that I have been missing a lot of things lately. Here are top 5 of the things I miss while on quarantine.

1. Dining Outside

I miss dining outside especially after a tiring day at work. I miss eating restaurant cooked meals with friends and family. But while on quarantine I just focused on perfecting my skills on home cooking.

2. Going to Church

Doing church in these times of the COVID-19 pandemic has changed mostly for all churches. I miss the joy of gathering together as one church. Although we meet online every Sunday, but I miss the joy of worshiping together face to face.

3. Meeting Friends

friends

On these quarantine days, I am still keeping in touch with my friends online. But I miss the real encounter, the unending chit chats and the road trips.

4. My Students

I miss my students cuteness. I miss their innocent looks and their amiable personality.

5. My Relatives

This month is supposed to be the time of the year where I spend time to bond with my relatives. But because of the quarantine, I guess the get together will have to be cancelled.

There are days that I find staying at home a bit challenging. Despite that, I am thankful for the opportunity to be at home with my family. Added to that, a lot of people around the world are fighting the battle against COVID-19 and staying at home the is least that I could do to help “flatten the curve” of this pandemic. Praying that this will be over soon.

Toyota HEV Campus Tour goes to Xavier Ateneo!

by Bogie March 2, 2020

Toyota Motor Philippines partners with Xavier Ateneo in Cagayan de Oro City for its HEV (Hybrid Electric Vehicles) Campus Tour 2020 event.

An educational seminar was conducted at the Grand Caprice Limketkai last February 21, 2020,  where Engineering students and faculty members were educated on the beneficial effects of Toyota hybrid technology on the environment. The talk was led by Mr. Ritsmond Kalambacal, one of Toyota’s hybrid technology expert. Questions regarding sales and car pricing were answered by Ms. Elijah Sue C. Marcial, Toyota Motor Philippines VP for Marketing Services Department.

My takeaway from the seminar:

  • Toyota HEV are self-charging cars and you don’t need to charge them or need a charging station in order for it to function. It uses both a gasoline engine and an electric motor.
  • The Hybrid Electric Vehicles are all fuel efficient cars which is most likely to have fuel consumption similar to that of a motorcycle.
  • Toyota’s HEV are more environment friendly and they make very little noise compared to a gasoline or diesel engine.

Participants from the seminar particularly students from Xavier Ateneo were given the chance to test drive the recently launched, all-new Toyota Corolla Altis Hybrid and the Toyota Prius C.

The HEV Campus Tour is part of Toyota’s aim in eliminating the carbon emissions by the next three decades through providing energy efficient and environment friendly automotive technology.

Help in Times of Need

by Bogie January 19, 2012

It’s been one month since the flood happened in our city but until now people are still talking about the things that had happened to them during the tragedy. I can still recall the scene after the flood subsided. People were running to and fro and everyone else looked shocked about what happened. Rescuers came and the government provided roadside assistance plan to motorist who were stranded in the flood or even got their vehicles carried away by the flood waters. There were courageous individuals who willingly serve to rescue others in that time of need and many private institutions came to give food and clothing to the flood victims. Everyone came to help our city rise from its fall. Until now, a lot of individuals are still sending help for our city. God bless their generosity!
