White Island in Camiguin

by Bogie June 4, 2016

I was in Camiguin last week and it was my fourth visit in the island. Going back over and over again to this beautiful island is always an exciting experience.

One of the must-to-go places in Camiguin is the White Island. The White Island is an uninhabited white sandbar and has a crescent shape (but changes depending on the tide).

There are no trees or shelter of any kind, however you can rent huge umbrellas if you prefer. But if you really want to avoid the scorching heat of the sun, you can visit the island between 5:00 am to 8:00 am. This is also the best time to witness the sunrise from Mount Hibok-Hibok. Others also prefer to visit during the afternoon to witness the sunset.

The White Island is accessible through a motorized bangka or boats from Barangay Yumbing which cost around Php 450 pesos good for 6 persons. Boats are numbered and you have to remember your boat number as you will need that information once you want to get back to the mainland.

The sand is not as powdery compared to the usual beaches you have been. According to my tour guide, they are not really sand but powdered corals. You can really feel it on your feet that it’s a bit rough and sometimes a bit painful.

The view and the place alone is simply amazing and breathtaking. You can enjoy watching from afar the beauty of Mt. Hibok-Hibok and Mt. Vulcan.

You can also make your White Island visit more fun and exciting by snorkeling for corals and other marine life or just enjoy swimming. You can also try eating sea urchins.

Just a reminder: Don’t forget to bring hats, sunglasses, sunblock and of course drinking water. You can also bring food as you might get hungry while in the island.

Have you been to White Island in Camiguin lately? How was it? Would love to hear your story.

Going to Dubai : A Tourist’s Perspective

by Bogie July 16, 2011
A lot of people love to visit places they have never seen as well as explore and do things that they have never done. In fact, some individuals prepare for their grand vacation even a few months before it comes. Perhaps you have almost done everything that you can think of except for one thing; experience the thrill of desert Safari and experience holidays in Dubai. If you’re fed up riding roller coasters and Cruise Rivers, then dune bashing and camel riding sure sounds fun. This would give you something to tell your folks at home. All these and more can be made possible if your next route will be going to Dubai .
Everyone can learn about a lot of things in Dubai. It is a fine place indeed. And surprisingly, this place is packed with people who literally speak English. Everything in this place looks splendid including brand new roads, big buildings, and airports. You would even have the feeling that you are visiting the Western Country when you visit the place. They have so many tourist spots and things for you to explore; the boat tour of the canal, museums, bars, exquisite foods, etc. are just among them, all these top with great hospitality. When your vacation is over and you are about to leave the place, don’t forget to say “shukran”. This means “thank you” in English; a word that their citizens deserve after all the hosting that they have done.

Lost?

by Bogie June 15, 2011
Have you experienced being lost in an unfamiliar place? I have been in a similar situation too. Usually I use landmarks to guide me to the place I wanted to go but most of the time, using landmarks won’t work especially when people gave you the wrong information.
In today’s high tech society, things are much easier. Getting lost in an unfamiliar place is not a problem anymore because people nowadays have owned a number of GPS systems. In France this is what they call it systèmes GPS and this is one great tool for you to arrive at your destination in France without the fear of getting lost.
