Today’s writing prompt for the 30-Day Blogging Challenge is all about “Writing a letter to those who have hurt You”. Thinking about what to write, I was reminded of our classroom activity back when I was in College. Our teacher asked us to write a letter to someone who have hurt us. The purpose of the activity was to release pain, anger and all the emotional baggage we have.
It was so timely as I came in class with a heavy heart. I got scolded by my boss (I was a working student back then in college). I find it very painful because I didn’t do anything wrong yet my actions were misinterpreted. Inside the classroom, I was writing my letter and at the same time my tears were flowing. My teacher was surprised and asked me if I can share my letter in class. While I was reading my letter almost all of my classmates got teary eyed. I can’t anymore remember what I wrote, but that writing activity helped me release the pain I had at that time.
Benefits of Writing Letters
Writing a letter to those who have hurt you can change lives. It can be therapeutic to the one writing, rather than the one receiving it. Moreover, it can heal the pain that is living deep inside your heart. If someone hurts you in the past, write a letter so you can express compassion. Not only that, write a letter so you can ask or grant forgiveness or just simply express gratitude.

I thank you for hurting me. Forgive me if I was angry at you at that time. But today, I thank God for the opportunity to grow during that pain. Thank you for allowing me to learn and for helping me achieve my dreams.

Find a Way to Heal
Find a way to heal by starting to write letters to those who have hurt you. You may not have the courage to send it to the recipient for now, but what is important is for you to be able to release your painful emotions. After writing one, take a few days off, read your letters again and decide whether you will send it or not.
